REPOST: Chakras 101: How 7 Body Points Can Balance Your Life

How can chakras influence every part of a person's life? Find out the answer in this HuffingtonPost.com article.

Beyond your physical body is an "energy body" that contains crucial information about who you are. Part of that "energy anatomy" are the seven chakras, which can be developed to create complete physical and spiritual balance.

Reiki master and healer Jonathan Hammond joined HuffPost Live to explain what exactly the chakras are and how they substantially influence every part of one's life.

"The chakras really contain all of who we are, every aspect of ourselves -- our sexuality, our careers, how we think, what our beliefs are, whether or not we listen to intuition," Hammond said.

People often sense that their chakras are out of balance when their lives feel slightly off kilter, Hammond explained. For example, if you're feeling very emotional but find yourself incapable of expressing those emotions, your chakras may need work.

Astrology as a scholarly tradition

People have different opinions when they hear the word astrology. Some find astrology useful and entertaining, while others are filled with doubt and skepticism when they hear about astrology, especially those from the scientific community.

Contrary to its current reputation, astrology is in fact a scholarly tradition. Throughout history, it had been widely accepted by various traditions and communities around the world in political and academic contexts, as well as in other interdisciplinary fields of studies like astronomy and physics.

Based on records, the earliest practice of astrology dates back in 1645 B.C. and the earliest horoscopes were made in 410 B.C. The practice of astrology was widespread all around the world in several locations and cultures, especially in Egypt and China.

During the Renaissance period, perception about astrology began to bloom more because of the publication of several almanacs. In fact, even renowned scientists like Galileo and Copernicus practiced astrology.

The astrological revolution continued until the 1950s when French astrologers Michel and Françoise Gauquelin utilized complex statistical studies to link the positions of the planets to human affairs. Other scientists such as Dane Rudhyar have expanded the study of humanistic astrology.

Although labeled as “pseudo science,” many people today still believe in astrology, including well-known politicians and celebrities who seek the advice of astrologers for their daily lives. Thus, one can find the influence of astrology everywhere.
